Gender Sensitization Workshop for BC Agents to foster gender-inclusive ecosystem
As part of the initiative on Scaling Agent Viability and Quality in India, key developments include expanding product offerings, improving liquidity management, and increasing women’s participation as financial service providers and clients in the underserved areas. As part of our journey to make the BC agent network more inclusive and representative, we designed six unique mascot concepts. Each design reflects diversity in looks, expressions, clothing, and age groups. To ensure the final avatars resonated with everyone, we conducted a polling process, inviting feedback to help us choose the best representatives. A gender sensitization workshop was conducted in Gondia and Chandrapur, Maharashtra, from January 21 to January 23, 2025. The sessions aimed to raise awareness among field staff and BC agents about fostering a gender-inclusive ecosystem to enhance the participation of female customers at Customer Service Points. The training also focused on sensitizing field staff to gender-focused interventions that could promote the inclusion of women BC agents within the BC network. Delivered in a Training of Trainers (ToT) format, the program equipped staff with the skills to conduct similar sessions in the future. The overall objective was to create an enabling environment that encourages greater participation of women BC agents while also expanding women’s access to financial services through active involvement in financial inclusion initiatives. |

Grameen Foundation for Social Impact is Enabling Women Farmers through Targeted Training Programs
As part of GFSI’s Generating Rural Opportunities for Women Agri-entrepreneurship (GROW) program, we aim to create self-employment for 5,000 women Agri-Entrepreneurs (AEs), who will, in turn, enhance the livelihoods of one million smallholder farmers (SHFs). To strengthen AEs' technical skills, we launched a training program in January 2025 focused on plant health management, covering diagnosis, management, and CABI Digital Advisory Tools. This equips women farmers with app-based pathology recognition, enabling them to identify pests, assess their impact, and provide immediate solutions. After completing this training, AEs will support SHFs, address local agricultural challenges, and transfer technical knowledge and it would also expand their own agribusinesses. In the long run, trained Agri-Entrepreneurs will become trusted agri-advisors to the farming community in their villages. The program’s impact is evident—72 transacting AEs generated Rs. 985,122 in revenue in January alone. |
