Market Access eNabled by Digital Innovation (MANDI)-II is Enabling FPOs Through Digital Innovation, Climate-Resilient Practices, and Strategic Collaboration

To promote data-driven decision-making among FPOs through the use of the Grameen Kisaan Connect (GKC) app, handholding support was extended to five PoC FPOs to ensure its effective adoption. One Board of Director (BoD) member and one Local Resource Person (LRP) from each FPO participated in focused facilitation sessions, ensuring engagement in learning and adopting the application.

A GKC refresher training session was also organized in Prayagraj, with participation from 32 representatives across 14 FPOs spanning three districts: Pratapgarh, Prayagraj, and Chitrakoot. The session reinforced app usage, encouraged peer learning, and built confidence in leveraging digital tools for improved decision-making.

To support field-level implementation, tablets were distributed to 14 LRPs, equipping them with tools to provide real-time assistance.

The training aimed to promote the use of the GKC application to enhance the operational efficiency, market reach, and adaptability of FPOs in an increasingly competitive and technology-driven environment.

Women Farmers Gain Insights into Climate-Resilient Farming Practices

To promote the adoption of climate-resilient agricultural practices, drip irrigation and mulching demonstration setups were established in 10 FPOs across the PoC area. As part of this initiative, exposure visits were organised for women farmers and shareholders of Agrimitra Farmer Producer Company Limited and Sonanchal Sabji Evam Beej Producer Company Limited.

During the visits, women farmers had the opportunity to observe the functioning of drip irrigation and mulching systems firsthand. The visits aimed to enhance their understanding of these technologies and demonstrate the benefits of adopting efficient water management and soil conservation practices.

Through interactions and field-level observations, the participants learned how such practices can improve crop yields, reduce input costs, and support long-term sustainability. These exposure visits play a crucial role in equipping women farmers with practical knowledge that can be applied on their own farms, promoting enhancement of production and income for them.

Representation at the Bharat Alliance for FPO Acceleration workshop

Bharati Joshi and Anita Yadav from GFSI participated in the Bharat Alliance for FPO Acceleration (BAFA) workshop in Hyderabad. Bharati spoke about the governance and functioning of BAFA, acknowledging the initiators, implementers, and supporters of the group. Anita highlighted the need for an alliance, pointing out several challenges faced by FPOs that cannot be addressed by a single organization alone.

Generating Rural Opportunities for Women (GROW) is Enabling Women Agri-Entrepreneurs to Lead the Way in Andhra Pradesh through Training in Market Linkages and Sustainable Farming

Grameen Foundation, in collaboration with Syngenta Foundation India, successfully conducted two 26-day training programs in Rajahmundry and Maruteru, West Godavari District, Andhra Pradesh, empowering a total of 39 female Agri-Entrepreneurs (AEs) with essential skills in sustainable agriculture and entrepreneurship. These programs focused on strengthening market and financial linkages, improving technical know-how, and building confidence among rural women to lead agri-based enterprises. Key modules included Integrated Pest and Nutrient Management, Climate-Smart Agriculture, Agri and Allied Business Development, and Market Linkages, equipping participants with practical strategies to connect farmers to buyers, reduce post-harvest losses, and improve income generation. Through hands-on field sessions, role-based activities, and real-life problem-solving, participants gained valuable experience in applying their learning to local agricultural challenges. All 39 active participants across both batches successfully earned NIAM certification, and the overwhelmingly positive feedback reinforced the program’s effectiveness in enabling women to become confident, capable agripreneurs driving change in their communities.

Advancing Women’s Entrepreneurship

Women as Agents of Change and Economic Empowerment (W-ACE) program is Enabling Rural Women to Lead from the Front

Across rural India, women are stepping into leadership roles as digital and financial service providers and the W-ACE program (Women as Agents of Change and Economic Empowerment) is at the heart of this transformation.

Since March 2024, the program has surpassed its training goals, with 651 Grameen Mitras (GMs) onboarded, exceeding the target of 650. These women have been trained in digital tools, financial literacy, and gender sensitization. All 550 GMs are now fully active on the PayNearby platform, ready to support their communities.

The impact is visible and growing. By April 30, 2025, GMs had served 1,45,478 customers, achieving 97% of the outreach target. A surge in activity from February onward highlights the increasing trust placed in GMs for delivering essential services.

GM performance has steadily improved. Active GMs grew from 149 in October 2023 to 502 by April 2025. Income levels reflect this engagement, average earnings rose from ₹51 to ₹2,022, with March 2025 hitting a high of ₹10,19,890 in total GM income. Fewer GMs now earn under ₹200, while many more are crossing the ₹1,500 threshold, showing real economic progress.

Among many inspiring stories is Karishma Sahare, a graduate and mother from Rajgad village. Once a homemaker, she now runs digital financial services from home, helping neighbors access funds and benefits with ease. Her transformation reflects the program’s core promise of enabling women to lead change from within their communities.

“Today, I earn from home while supporting my family and serving my village.” – Karishma Sahare

The W-ACE program stands as a powerful example of what’s possible when women are given tools, training, and trust. They're not just participating in the economy - they’re shaping their bright future.
