Data Analyst

Status: Full-time, 1-year contract (renewable)
Location: Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Data Management:
    o Collect, process, and manage all MANDI 2 data from FPOs and individual farmers.
    o Develop and maintain databases and data systems necessary for data collection and
    storage.
    o Implement data collection systems and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency
    and data quality.
    o Coordinate with field staff to ensure the accurate and timely collection of data.
    o Manage data extraction, transformation, and loading processes to ensure data is integrated
    from various sources.

2. Data Analysis:

  • Analyse complex data sets to identify trends, patterns, and insights that inform strategicdecisions and program improvements.
  • Perform data profiling to identify and understand anomalies.
  • Develop and implement data analyses, data collection systems, and other strategies tooptimize statistical efficiency and quality.
  • Use statistical tools to interpret data sets, paying particular attention to trends and patternsthat could be valuable for diagnostic and predictive analytics efforts.

3. Reporting:

  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations for various stakeholders, summarizing keyfindings and recommendations.
  • Develop reports and analysis that include data visualizations, graphs, and descriptivestatistics.
  • Deliver presentations and briefings to stakeholders, explaining complex data and insights inan accessible manner.

4. Data Visualization:

  • Create and maintain dashboards and other visualization tools to facilitate real-time datamonitoring and decision-making.
  • Utilize data visualization tools like Tableau/ Power BI/ similar software to represent datatrends and insights.
  • Develop interactive data visualization models that allow stakeholders to explore the datamore intuitively.

5. Quality Assurance: Ensure data integrity and accuracy through regular audits and validation checks.

6. Collaboration: Work closely with program team, field staff, HQ staff, and other stakeholders to understand data needs and provide analytical support.

7. Training and Capacity Building: Train FPO members and farmers on data collection tools and methodologies to ensure accurate and consistent data reporting.

8. Innovation: Identify opportunities to enhance data collection and analysis processes through new technologies and methodologies.

Essential Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics/Agriculture/ Economics or a related field. A master’s degree
  • Agriculture Economics/ MBA in Agribusiness Management is preferred.
  • Familiarity with the agricultural sector and understanding of rural development, farmerproducer organizations and farmers' data needs.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in data analysis and research, preferably within theagricultural or rural development or social impact sectors.
  • Expertise in designing data collection instruments and gathering primary data from farmers,rural women, and farmer groups.
  • Strong analytical abilities to interpret complex data and deliver actionable insights. Proficiencyin using data analysis tools such as Excel, SPSS, and STATA would be an added advantage.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present data in aclear and concise manner.
  • Experience working with large data sets and databases, with additional proficiency in data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, or similar software being an added advantage.
  • Familiarity with the agricultural sector and understanding of FPOs and farmers' data needs.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Contract Type: Annual Contract, with the possibility of renewal based on performance and organizational needs.
