Who We Are
About Grameen Foundation for Social Impact
Grameen Foundation for Social Impact (GFSI) is a not-for-profit organization, registered under section 25 of Companies Act, 1956 (now known as section 8 of the Indian Companies Act 2013). GFSI was acquired by Grameen Foundation India in 2017 with the aim of making a positive impact on the lives of the poor, especially women. Our core areas of expertise include providing access to finance, livelihood opportunities, agricultural products and services, women's empowerment, and health and nutrition.
Our Approach to Create Lasting Impact
Grameen’s programming approach is based on a deep understanding of the needs and barriers faced by low-income people from disadvantaged communities and is driven by use cases to address gaps in awareness, access, adoption, and quality. We address demand and supply-side barriers through deep community engagement, scalable models, leveraging technology applications and innovative partnerships to prime our solutions for adoption, scale, and sustainability.
Grameen Foundation India helped me understand my business more deeply. I was able to do my first exhibition because of them. I feel if the WEEGO team is on my side, no one can stop me, and I can fly high.
Grameen Foundation India's support has helped us install a solar-powered Mustard oil Expeller, benefiting mustard farmers with reasonable prices and creating part time opportunities for few SHG members. Now, farmers earn INR 6,700 per quintal, exceeding the market price of INR 6,500.
Thanks to the customer-centricity training, we were able to enhance our soft skills and improve our approach towards customers. This has helped us sell difficult products more effectively and retain more regular customers, particularly women.
