Grameen’s work in Agriculture & Livelihood Practices (ALPs)
Drawing from our pioneering work in Agriculture and Livelihoods, we have successfully designed and implemented capacity-building programs prioritizing gender mainstreaming. By focusing on improving outreach, membership, and leadership opportunities for women within Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), we enable them both institutionally and at the household level. Through dedicated efforts in gender analysis, training, and establishing meaningful partnerships, we are fostering the enablement of women smallholder farmers. We are committed to providing enhanced support to smallholder farmers, especially women, to effectively diversify and intensify their agricultural production. Our innovative solutions enable smallholder farmers to connect to vital resources such as information, markets, capital, and skill development opportunities, and forge mutually beneficial relationships between FPOs and diverse ecosystem actors such as buyers, suppliers, extension services, technology providers, and financial service providers. By leveraging the potential of digital technology, and collaborating closely with banks, financial institutions, farmers’ organizations, and agribusinesses, we enable women in agriculture and their households to build assets, navigate crises, mitigate risks, and cultivate resilience.
How We Work
- We close gender gaps that block women’s access to agriculture solutions by teaming with local partners across the Agriculture value chain.
- We support women adjusting their behaviors to be more climate-smart and climate-resilient by working with partners with solutions, such as involving farmers in carbon markets.
- We support partners in collecting, gathering, analyzing, and using available data to improve their decisions related to smallholder farmers all along the value chain.
